Designing with Intention: One Focal Piece with Big Impact
When planning an intimate wedding, especially one in a personal setting like your own backyard, the key is choosing floral moments that truly define the space. For this Maryland couple’s Eastern Shore ceremony, the vision was clear: a soft, garden-inspired floral arch that would feel like it was plucked straight from a hidden trellis in a secret garden.
Why a Floral Arch? A Statement Piece for Small-Scale Weddings
As weddings continue to evolve in scale and style, many couples are choosing to focus on one or two key statement pieces that truly resonate with their aesthetic—and budget. In this case, the arch served as the centerpiece of the ceremony, offering a romantic yet modern focal point against the natural waterfront backdrop.
The Floral Details: Soft Color, Flowing Greenery, Timeless Blooms
We crafted the design using flowing greenery to create movement and dimension, paired with a gentle palette of classic blooms: blush roses, lisianthus, delphinium, and other timeless favorites. The structure was intentionally organic, reminiscent of florals climbing an old garden wall. Each bloom was placed to reflect whimsy and grace, bringing softness and intimacy to an open outdoor setting.
Creating a Defined Ceremony Space
To enhance the ceremony experience, we used scattered petals to line the aisle, helping to define the space and guide the eye toward the floral arch. With nothing but sky, water, and nature behind them, this thoughtful floral design created a stunning frame for the couple’s vows.
Let Your Ceremony Florals Tell a Story
This design is a beautiful example of how a well-placed, thoughtfully designed floral installation can elevate even the most minimal ceremony setting—especially for backyard or waterfront weddings.
